Main problem:
Paroxysmal limb seizures for five years, which are becoming progressively worse over the last six months.
Brief summary of history:
The atypical epilepsy (five years) that includes paroxysmal limb seizures and teeth chattering that has became worse over the past six months. The severity is increasing and the periods of attacks are shortening, from monthly to now daily. The patient is in extreme agony and is feeling tormented by the illness.
Information gathered:
During the epilepsy attack, the limbs contract with centripetal seizures, teeth chattering, gets flustered with heart palpitations. Recently during the attacks, the patient is suffering with hot flushing onto the face, chest feels stuffy and recently started to have insomnia.
Occasional headaches. Bitter taste in the mouth. Feels dry in the mouth with attacks. Doesn’t drinks much water. Appetite is fine. No abdominal pain or distention. One bowel motion a day, sometimes dry stool. Urination has a smooth flow. Needs to get up once or twice at night to urinate. No aversion to wind or cold. During the attacks, the legs and feet are cold, the limbs are numb without sweating. Reddish, bright red inside the lower eyelids.
The abdomen feels thin, weak and tense on palpation. Skin on lower limbs is squamous and dry, with small crusts falling off, superficial veins can be seen easily (like floating). The hands feel warm when touched.
Tongue and pulse:
Right pulse is oblique, floating slippery.
Left pulse is deep weak and intermittent.
Pale tongue, slight fur, thin and moist.
Diagnosis:
Identification of Six Diseases: Jue Yin Disease
Formula:
Si Ni San (in the form of liquid) Chaihu 24 Zhishi (raw) 24 Baishao (raw) 24 Gancao (fried/baked) 24
15 doses of liquid medicine along with 15 doses of powders of Si Ni San. (3 gram = one dose)
In this case after 15 doses of SNS in both of liquid and powders the limb seizures stopped. The agony and pain which had presented for five years finally concluded.
Second consultation:
Formula was having great results. Had no attacks since finishing the 15 doses. The patient and her family were very pleased.
